In fact the only snippets of information freely available materialized from his own writing, press articles, radio and TV appearances. What is public knowledge is that Mark D. Yates was born in 1957 just 2 miles from the city centre of Liverpool, North West England. The son of a British Army physical training instructor. Mark was recorded as working his apprenticeship on secretive British construction contracts including Soviet naval tracking bases. He next came to attention as an armed bodyguard to Dutch and German construction agents in Central Europe.
Many of these agencies hired tens of thousands of foreign workers on a cash for hire-no questions asked basis. There was some speculation that many Irish terrorists were hiding out on various construction sites in Europe and that the British Government were tracking them through covert operatives called spooks, who infiltrated these agencies.

Yates appeared to go underground for some years before next coming to attention in Russia in 1992. He was then tracked working with the KGB as a Western security specialist for 5 years. It has been documented he provided special weapons and tactics and Diplomatic VIP protection training and operations in Russia, Ukraine, Crimea, Latvia, Estonia and Kazakhstan. He spent some time formulating anti mafia task forces for the ministry of interior. It was reported that the Russian Mafia placed a death contract on him after several Mafia hoods were killed in a police anti mafia shootout at one of their safe houses. It has been alleged, although never proven that Yates was the anti mafia task force leader on this and several other mafia deadly force operations.
In reprisal the Mafia executed a Police Colonel in charge of one of the Anti Mafia Task Force Units. The Colonel’s wife and two young sons were also executed. After the death contract was issued, Dr. Mark D. Yates is known to have survived two bomb attacks, a grenade attack and several shootouts before leaving the former Soviet Union.
